Plein chagrin noir à petits grains, In 4, dos à 5 nerfs très richement orné aux caissons, plats joliment orné de motifs dorés dans un triple encadrement, tranches dorées, large signet-ruban de soie mauve, contreplats doublés de soie blanche dans une encadrement guirlande doré, 314 x 253, 1835. Edition originale. Comprend :

xii pp. (Contents, List of plates, Preface).

Frontispice (portrait gravé de John Ross par B.R. Fanlkner et gravé par Robert Hart] et 19 planches sous serpente dont 12 en couleurs (la plupart des dessins sont de J. Ross, gravés (litho) par John Brandard, imprimé par Graf & Soret) ; un des dessins noir signé Ross est sa New theory of Aurora.

Provenances : « Cachet Bibliothèque du Roi, Neuilly » et « Bibliothèque René Marjolin ». Intérieur propre, quelques rousseurs, sans excès. Coins et champs frottés, coins légèrement cognés et émoussés. Plats frottés, mais bons, une griffe avec petite perte en plat inférieur. Mors frottés avec épidermures, un peu faibles mais intègres. Dos frotté avec épidermures, en coiffe, nerfs et queue.

Bon exemplaire dans une jolie reliure pour cette édition originale rare de l’Appendix de cette relation de voyage à la recherche du Passage du Nord-Ouest.
